Letter from the President

Dear delegates of HRC,

I’m Zaina Malkawi and it is with immense honor that I introduce myself as the president of this dignified and respectable committee.

Regardless of the state of the world and how impossibly corrupt the sovereignties of world-renowned nations have become, the goal of HRC was always maintained; to protect and promote human rights globally, address human rights crises, achieve equality and advocate for people all around the world.

The theme of this year’s conference couldn’t be more complementary to this intergovernmental body — “Shifting Sands” is an important marker of the changes that we are witnessing internationally; it represents how weak our unilateral corporations and communities are turning out to be, how lacking in resilience the foundation of our world has revealed itself to be, and how much we, as individuals, need to strive to create a safer universal society. This should be our main objective in this conference.

Both of these topics are of utmost relevance to the current state of the world, and any potential implementations to resolve these issues should be conscientiously considered.
